What Makes Ours A “SaltWater” Pontoon?

This is the question most frequently asked by our customers.  The major differences can be found on the picture below, but in reality, we simply build a different boat from the bottom up…..because we have to!  Most “lake” pontoon boats are built in the Northern United States, and are built to last 10 years or so, for use on calm, smaller freshwater lakes.  The whole boating season in these areas is only 3 or 4 months.  So these boats are designed and built to last and weather about 30 to 40 months of use, with low UV sunlight, and low humidity conditions as well.  The materials used in the building of these boats reflects just that.  Carpeting or vinyl?  Rusting hardware? Upholstery that mildews and cracks?   These materials are fine for the use they are intended for, but not for areas of SaltWater use, higher UV, or high humidity and temperatures.  Our boats are built for 12 month a year use in a sub tropical climate, in the harsh SaltWater Gulf of Mexico, with high UV and higher humidity as well.  The materials we use reflect the purpose for which our boats have been built for over 30 years!

There are many pontoon owners that were told that their northern made lake boats would do just fine in these conditions only to find out that their boats aged incredibly fast, and simply could not stand up to the rigors of Salt Water use, and that the salesman, or the dealership or even the manufacturer was no longer there to back up what they were told.  If you get a product intended for SaltWater use to begin with, you won’t have that problem no matter what!
